It is also counted as one of the three most beautiful pagodas in Japan along with the Five-story Pagoda of Ruriko-ji Temple the ones at Horyu-ji Temple (Nara) and Daigo-ji Temple (Kyoto). However, it was destroyed by fire in 1991. Afterwards, a new memorial church was reconstructed in 1998 with superb stained glass windows and a pipe organ.
