Izushi is a town where historical townscapes Hyogo PrefectureIzushi Castle Site and Its TownIzushi Town was first mentioned in the ancient historical records, “Kojiki” and “Nihon Shoki” (chronicles of Japan written in the 7th century). The town started to flourish in the Muromachi period (1336-1573) when the Yamana Clan settled in the region and founded the castle as still blend in harmoniously with the modern city. Strolling around the town will let visitors discover its historical charms here and there. Areas of natural beauty always offer a welcome with their superb seasonal scenery such as cherry blossoms and Japanese magnolia in spring and colored maple and gingko in autumn as well as the pure stream at Okuyama Ravine and Shiraito Waterfall cascading down the mountain side.their base. Shinko-ro is a retro clock tower built by the former castle gate in 1871 (the present Shinko-ro is the third generation).
