Widely known as “The City of Dance and Gifu PrefectureGujo Hachiman Castle and Its Castle TownIn 1559, a samurai lord, Morikazu Endo, commissioned a fortress to be constructed. Later in 1667, the 6th generation master, Tsunetomo Endo undertook a large-scale renovation and the castle was officially sanctioned by the Tokugawa government.
